our mission

Challenging the status-quo through dialogue.

We are a Social Enterprise. That means we exist to benefit the community rather than our shareholders. We use our profits, time and resources to further our environmental agenda which centres around two key missions.

By keeping gear in circulation we increase the product lifecyle and reduce the associated waste, water and carbon footprint of the item. This reduces the environmental impact of our gear whilst also reducing costs of entry.

mission one

keep outdoor gear in circulation

To embrace circular economy we will have to turn our relationship with outdoor gear and equipment on it's head.

mission two

promote circular economy

our work

We invest our time, money and resources into projects and initiatives we feel will help us further our mission. Check out some our work below.

community focused

We think grass-roots community action is the best way to make an impact. That's why the majority of our work and donations come from the local Edinburgh outdoor community. You'll often see Stephen whizzing about on his bike picking up donations or dropping things off. Follow us on social media to stay up to date with everything we've got going on!

Every second, the equivalent of a rubbish truck load of clothes is burnt or buried in landfill

Welcome to the Bluebird community!

What is the problem?

As outdoor enthusiasts we have a unique relationship with the natural world. Despite this, the outdoor community continues to perpetuate a consumerist attitude to our gear and clothing that is hugely environmentally damaging. We can no longer ignore the impacts of what we buy and do.
